Navan Cycling Initiative joined the Meath Public Participation Network during the summer of 2020, joining hundreds of groups and thousands of volunteers around the county.
Since forming, we’ve been busy! Here’s a selection of what we’ve been doing so far.
Navan Family Cycle
Navan Cycling Initiative hosted its first ever community event, a family cycle, as part of National Bike Week, a celebration and promotion of all that’s great about bikes and cycling. Held over an extended week each year, Bike Week sees bike themed events organised by local authorities, community groups and cycling groups throughout Ireland
As you can see, we were joined by cyclists of all ages and abilities. You see all the photos and more about the event here.
Maps of Cycle Lanes
One of our first tasks was to find all of the cycle paths and planned routes around the town, so we made this map:
The map is a living document, which we’re keeping up to date as new cycle lanes or bike parking is installed. We hope you find it useful!
Planning Submissions
There is a steady stream of planned improvements in the Meath County Council pipeline, and we will be making submissions to ensure that plans prioritise walking and cycling.
We recently made a submission on the planned N51 Park & Ride facility, so hopefully Meath County Council will deliver a facility that works for everyone.
