New Convent Road to Metges Road Scheme
New scheme will link to existing infrastructure at Convent Road and the Metges Road Junction
Meath County Council is proposing to develop a new pedestrian and cycling scheme from Convent Road to Metges Road Junction which aims to provide high quality, safe, continuous, and consistent cycle and pedestrian facilities in Navan. You can see all of the details and make a submission on the consultation portal here.
The proposed scheme runs for 1.4km and will link to the existing completed works on Convent Road, which saw filtered permeability put in place in 2022. The scheme will continue along Elm Park out to the Kentstown Road as far as the Metges Road Junction, where it will connect with the existing Johnstown network.
To promote the scheme, Meath County Council’s Active Travel Office recently held an information evening in the Newgrange Hotel, where stakeholders and members of the public were invited to view the scheme proposals. Feedback from property owners, stakeholders and members of the public will be considered by the project team before progressing to the next phase of the project.
The Emerging Preferred Route introduces improved cycling and pedestrian infrastructure with the introduction of new 2-way cycle tracks running for the majority of the route in addition to improving safety at junctions for cyclists and pedestrians. The Emerging Preferred Route corridor is shown in the Route Corridor Map below.
