Beechmount to Balreask Manor Scheme Public Consultation
Beechmount and Balreask Manor scheme (B2BM) will deliver high quality cycle and pedestrian facilities and an improved public realm
This is the second consultation for the B2BM scheme after an emerging preferred route non-statutory public consultation was held in late 2023. The scheme, part of the GDA Cycle Network Plan, will improve local access for cyclists and pedestrians from Navan Town Centre to residential areas to the south of Navan, and tie in with the recently completed Athlumney to Trim Road Cycle and Pedestrian Scheme (Phase 1).

The B2BM scheme is more than just a cycle scheme and features significant enhancements for pedestrians and an improved public realm and landscaping, as well as new public lighting, drainage, kerb re-alignments, road resurfacing, raised tables, speed cushions and other road safety measures along the scheme.
Starting from Beechmount Avenue, it will tie in with the existing Athlumney to Trim Road Cycle and Pedestrian Scheme with a 2m wide northbound cycle track as far as Balreask Village, where a high-quality 3m wide two-way cycle track with a 0.5m wide buffer and 2m wide path continues all the way to Balreask Manor, where the scheme diverts into the estate using a shared space mixed traffic approach.
The scheme also includes designs for a cycle track on the eastern side of the road (continuing on the green field sites after the new Swanbrook Estate), however this part won’t be constructed in this phase but as part of a future housing development.
Submissions for the Beechmount to Balreask Manor (B2BM) Scheme can be made on the new national planning portal here, and are open until 15 May 2025
